Cobia Fishing in Pensacola

Cobia are fascinating fish. They are solitary hunters and are often found cruising near the surface, sometimes associating with sharks or sea turtles, or investigating floating objects and channel markers. This behavior makes them a prime candidate for sight-fishing. When we spot a Cobia, the goal is to get a bait or lure in front of them. They are strong, powerful swimmers and put up a tremendous fight on the line, often making long, deep runs. Their diet consists of crabs, large fish, and squid, so they will readily take a variety of baits. Tactics often involve drifting baits near structure or actively poling the flats and nearshore waters looking for cruising fish.
