Flounder Fishing in Pensacola

Flounder (various species including Southern Flounder, Paralichthys lethostigma) are bottom-dwelling fish renowned for their incredible ability to blend in with their surroundings. They lie in wait on the sandy or muddy bottom, ambushing unsuspecting prey. To catch them, we often drift baits or jigs along the seafloor, moving slowly over areas where flounder are likely to hide, such as near piers, bridges, artificial reefs, and channel edges. Live bait like shrimp or small pinfish is highly effective, as are artificial jigs that mimic baitfish. Detecting their subtle bite can be challenging, but the reward is a delicious meal.
